Rebranding – again…
Dontcha just hate it when you think you’ve come up with something clever but nobody gets it?
I’ve noticed lately that there’s been some confusion over my name and over my branding. Yes, my name is Scott C. Lonis. The “C” is for “Compton”. And yes, all my buddies call me “Scotty Compton”. And my company name is “Scott Compton”. Simple, right.
No.
I mean, what’s the point if nobody gets it? It’s like telling a joke, and then you have to explain the joke. I hate that.
“Scott Compton” development was actually the result of a brainstorm between myself and my sister the marketing and networking maven. I mean, it’s not that it sounds bad, it’s just that all the different nomenclatures to describe that which I am is getting confusing for the “don’t get it” crowd.
What sucks though is I’m gonna have to go thru, redo all my social media… redo Twitter, update LinkedIn, get the new domain, make the necessary modifications to the website to transfer it over to a new domain (sorry – I’m not lazy and I’m not gonna just do some lazy-ass 302 redirect – unless I don’t give a damn about SEO). Change my business cards. Change my logo.
Man.. rebranding sucks! Mental note… please please please make this the absolute last time you have to “reinvent” yourself. Rebranding is more than just changing a logo, baby…
